Cynthia Villar denies confronting anyone in viral video taken inside church
Sen. Cynthia Villar denied confronting anyone inside the church due to a particular group's alleged mudslinging.
In an interview with the media shared by ABS-CBN News, Villar was asked, "[May] isang insidente sa simbahan. May sinugod daw nga po ba kayo?"
A smirking Villar said, "Di ko sinugod. Katabi ko."
Without naming anyone, Villar alluded to a group of people who allegedly pay the media to besmirch her family's name.
"Bakit pa niya ako lalapitan at kakamayan? 'Wag niya na akong batiin. Sinabi ko sa kaniya 'yun, ''Wag mo na akong batiin, sinisiraan mo naman ang pamilya namin,'" she said.
Asked about the criticisms she's been getting online, Villar said, "I'd like to believe na ang laki ng performance ko kaya wala naman silang magagawa kundi gawin 'yun."
A now-viral video reposted by an X user with over 21,000 followers showed Villar walking from her pew to the opposite row, where Las Piñas Councilor Mark Anthony Santos, her rival for the Las Piñas congressional seat in the 2025 midterm elections, was seated.
Before Villar reached Santos, her estranged niece, Las Piñas Vice Mayor April Aguilar, stood and went back.
Villar can then be seen pointing her finger at Santos before walking away.
The incident reportedly took place inside the Our Lady of Fatima Church in Barangay Pamplona Dos.
