Kevin Quiambao, the star player of De La Salle University Green Archers, is leaving the team as he joins the Korean Basketball League (KBL), with the ultimate goal of playing for the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Quiambao announced his plan a day after the Archers lost to the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons in Game 3 of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 87 finals, 62-66, on Dec. 15.

On Instagram, the 23-year-old King Archer shared a monochrome photo of him and, in the caption, expressed his gratitude to the DLSU community.

"Thank you for [three] wonderful seasons, a lot of sweat, tears and sacrifices," he said. "Thank you for making me a great student athlete."

"To my teammates and the whole coaching staff and management, I can't thank you enough for unwavering support. Thank you for believing in me and pushing me to reach my potential. I am so grateful and blessed to have you guys," he continued.

"With that being said, my college career comes to an end," Quiambao said.

"I will pursue my NBA dream and start my journey by playing professional ball in Goyang Sono SkyGunners and developing my game even more."

Quiambao is set to be the ninth Filipino at the KBL. One of the league's most prominent players is Carl Tamayo, his teammate at the National University Bullpups in high school.

Quiambao joined the UAAP in 2022, emerging as the rookie of the year.

He led the Archers to victory in Season 86.

The 23-year-old has been the UAAP Most Valuable Player for two years now.
