Marcos top choice for president, Sotto for VP in SWS survey
An October survey by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) found that Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Senate President Vicente Sotto III were the most preferred candidates for President and Vice President, respectively, for the coming 2022 national elections.
The survey conducted from Oct. 20 to 23 was commissioned by the strategic research organization, Stratbase ADR Institute. SWS has yet to confirm the number of respondents and margin of error.
Leading the presidential survey is Bongbong Marcos with 47% saying they would vote for the former senator, followed by Vice President Leni Robredo with 18%.
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno is third spot with 13%, Sen. Manny Pacquiao is fourth with 9%, and Senators Panfilo Lacson and Ronald Dela Rosa tied at fifth place with 5% each. Around 3% of respondents were still undecided on who they would vote for in the coming elections.
For the vice presidential bet, Sotto lead the survey with 44% of respondents, followed by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio with 25%.
Tied in third were Sen. Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan and Dr. Willie Ong with 13% each, followed by Lito Atienza with 3%. The remaining 2% were still undecided.
Partido Lakas ng Masa's Leody De Guzman and Walden Bello were not included in the list of candidates given to the respondents. It should also be noted that the survey was conducted before the withdrawal and substitution period of COMELEC ending on Nov. 15.
As for the Senate "Magic 12" race, Raffy Tulfo lead the surveys with 60% of support, followed by Sorsogon Gov. Francis "Chiz" Escudero with 51%, Taguig Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano with 50%, Antique Rep. Loren Legarda with 45% and Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri with 44%.
Tied at the 6th spot were former vice president Jejomar Binay and former public works secretary Mark Villar at 40%, Senator Risa Hontiveros placed six with with 36% support, former senator Jinggoy Estrada with 33%, actor Robin Padilla with 29%, and broadcaster Noli De Castro with 28%
De Castro has since withdrawn his candidacy for senator last October.
