Police in Catherine Camilon's case skips Senate hearing

Police Major Allan de Castro, the prime suspect in the disappearance of beauty queen Catherine Camilon, skipped the Senate’s investigation of the case.

De Castro’s driver-bodyguard, Jeffrey Magpantay, also skipped the proceedings, claiming illness.

De Castro cited his pregnant wife's condition as the reason for his absence, drawing criticism from Senator Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa, who deemed it a "flimsy alibi." 

Dela Rosa, the chairman of the senate committee on public order and dangerous drugs, emphasized his own experiences of being away during his wife's childbirth to challenge De Castro's excuse.

The lawmaker warned of potential arrest warrants for those evading the probe. 

De Castro has denied allegations that he was the individual Camilon intended to meet on the day she disappeared. Additionally, there are claims that De Castro provided her with the vehicle she was last seen driving from her residence. 

CCTV footage from October 12 shows Camilon's car passing through several towns in Batangas, with police stating that she appeared to be accompanied. 

Witnesses have come forward alleging that they saw Camilon being transferred from her car to another vehicle, with Magpantay present in the vicinity. 

Subsequent analysis revealed that the hair and blood recovered from the vehicle matched Camilon's parents' DNA profile. 

Kidnapping and serious illegal detention complaints have been lodged against De Castro, his driver-bodyguard Magpantay, and two unidentified individuals.
