Cebu City’s Beatrice Luigi Gomez is the new Miss Universe Philippines
Beatrice Luigi Gomez was named Miss Universe Philippines 2021 on Thursday, Sept. 30, besting 27 other candidates.
The 26-year-old from Cebu City was crowned during the grand coronation held at the Henann Resort Convention Center in Panglao, Bohol.
At the Q&A portion, host KC Montero asked how she will be able to continue to inspire others if something unimaginable would happen during her reign as Miss Universe Philippines. Gomez replied that she will "not give up."
"It is very evident that all of us went through difficulties during this pandemic, but it is also proof that we are able to rise to the occasion. And if anything happened to me during my reign, I will not give up and inspire others by rising to the problems that I am encountering and by inspiring them that whatever you're going through, you will be able to overcome it. Thank you so much," the model and athlete said.
Gomez, who is a member of the Philippine Navy Reserve Unit, was among the top contenders in the pageant, winning four awards: Best in Swimsuit, Best in Evening Gown, Luxxe ImmunPlus Game Changer, and Miss Creamsilk.
She will represent the country in the Miss Universe pageant in Israel this December.
