Ayala Avenue to remain car-free every Sunday until end of the year

Pinoys are still free to cherish more of the recreational activities they can do on one of Makati’s busiest roads.

On Sunday, Sept. 24, Makati City's official Facebook page announced that it is extending Ayala Avenue's car-free Sundays to December this year.

"We’ve got GREAT NEWS! The Car-Free Sunday Mornings at Ayala Avenue is here to STAY FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR because of your overwhelming response and support!" the city's local government unit captioned its post.

"This means you can now continue your Sunday morning fitness habit," it continued. "Together, let’s continue enjoying the freedom of open streets, fostering healthier lifestyles, and uniting our community of runners, walkers, bikers, pet owners and furbabies, and skaters every Sunday."

The program has initially kept the whole stretch of Ayala Avenue, from H.V. Dela Costa St. until West St. & Fonda St., as well as Makati Avenue along Ayala Triangle Gardens, free of vehicles throughout September.

With the extension, the roads will remain car-free every Sunday, from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., starting Oct. 1 until the end of December.

Ayala Avenue's car-free Sundays is being implemented by the LGU to encourage a healthier lifestyle for Pinoys who would like to cycle, run, stroll, and enjoy pollution-free mornings in the city. Now, people are welcome to explore more activities and experience the fun for 14 more Sundays this year.
