Any aspiring Blue Eagle in the house? Ateneo De Manila University has opened college applications for academic year 2023 to 2024, and this year, applicants will have to take the Ateneo College Entrance Test (ACET) to get into the prestigious university.

During the pandemic, the ACET was suspended but for the next school year, it will be conducted on-site at testing centers nationwide once again.

Ateneo offers degree programs in arts, sciences, management, science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and social sciences. If you want to study at the Ateneo, here's a quick guide on the requirements, schedules, and other frequently asked questions about the admission process.

Requirements

For first-year college applicants, you will need to fill up an online application form, which you can find on the Ateneo website. You will also need the following requirements:

  • Personal essay
  • High School Record Form and Principal Recommendation Form
  • Guidance Counselor/Class Adviser's Recommendation Form
  • Teacher's Recommendation Form
  • Scholarship/Financial Aid Questionnaire, if applicable
  • Additional documentation, if applicable (ex. IB grades, SAT results, or NCAE results; scholarship application supporting documents)
  • Payment/deposit slip as proof of payment for application fee

Application fees cost P600 for applicants studying in the Philippines and P2,500 for those in schools outside the country. Students coming from public or science high schools in the country are exempted from application and testing fees.

Ateneo is accepting applications starting August 1 to September 30, 2022.

Meanwhile, college students who want to transfer to Ateneo have the following requirements:

  • must be taking the full load requirement per semester and must have finished at least one full semester in the college or university he or she is enrolled in by the time the application requirements are submitted

  • must NOT have finished an undergraduate degree in any college or university before and/or during the application period

  • must NOT have been a college student or should not have been previously enrolled in the Loyola Schools of Ateneo de Manila University

The application period for transferees is from August 1, 2022 to March 24, 2023.

Important dates

The ACET for first-year college applicants in Metro Manila will take place on October 29 to 30, 2022 while those outside the metro will have their tests on November 5 to 6, 2022. Results will be released in April 2023 via email.

For transferees, their ACET will happen in January 2023 with the release of decisions in May 2023.

What to expect during the ACET

According to the Ateneo website, the test will consist of multiple-choice questions in math, English, general knowledge, and abstract reasoning. There will also be an essay you will have to write under time pressure. Additionally, test items will be in English.

During the exam, test takers only need to bring pencils, ballpens, snacks, and water—calculators and other electronic devices are not allowed.

On Aug. 2, the university announced that it has "not authorized any individual or entity, including review centers, to conduct review or training sessions in preparation for the ACET."
