Meet Bb. Pilipinas Globe 2024 Jasmin Bungay, who talked about SOGIESC in her Q&A

Newly crowned Bb. Pilipinas Globe Jasmin Bungay made waves at the Binibining Pilipinas 2024 coronation night, especially during the pageant's Q&A segment.

The Pampanga beauty was crowned by her predecessor Anna Valencia Lakrini alongside the new Bb. Pilipinas International Myrna Esguerra of Abra on July 76 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Jasmin's performance during the Q&A portion of the night made the rounds on X as users applauded her for raising awareness on the SOGIESC (sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, and sex characteristics) bill—which has yet to be passed in the Philippines.

She was asked by Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz: If you were given 30 minutes to talk to the public, what would you talk about?

"I would like to talk about the passing of the SOGIE bill, because in celebrations such as pageants, this community (LGBTQ+) has contributed so much. And in this regard, we can give back to them by supporting this cause because as an individual, it is our responsibility that we ensure that everyone is treated equally, despite their SOGIE," the beauty queen answered.

Jasmin will be representing the Philippines in the upcoming Miss Globe 2024 pageant, which has yet to announce the date and venue of its coronation night.

Aside from her stint in Binibining Pilipinas, Jasmine is no stranger to pageants as she served as Mutya Ning Kapampangan in 2016. Here are some other things to know about the new Bb. Pilipinas Globe.

She was an OFW

In her Binibining Pilipinas profile, Jasmin is said to be an advocate of OFW empowerment as she has worked previously in Dubai.

"It was a wild journey of self-discovery, my life in Dubai that is. Lost my footing [five] years ago, packed my bags, and started anew in the sandpit, survived all the sandstorms that came along the way, came out a woman ready to reclaim her dream," she wrote in April about her experience.

Runway model

While in Dubai, the 26-year-old dipped her toes in the fashion scene, modeling for UAE-based Filipino designer Harvey Cenit, the Creative Director of fashion house Al Aroosa Aniqah.

She also attended the Middle East Fashion Week in November 2022.

She loves to travel

Jasmin didn't just work overseas, but traveled for leisure, too. Her Instagram page is filled with photos from her trips to different countries like Turkiye, Indonesia, Netherlands, and Japan.

Her hobbies and interests

The beauty queen told PlayTime PH that she loves watching volleyball, although she doesn't play.

"The last game I saw live was VNL (Volleyball Nations League)... Especially when I got back to the Philippines I took the time to watch the games live both for men's and women's," she said.

Jasmin also shared about how she loves, reading, listening to podcasts, and writing. She previously said that she served as the editor-in-chief of her school publication when she was in elementary and high school.
