Lola Amour's bassist Raymond King to leave band after eight years
Lola Amour’s bassist Raymond King is leaving the band after eight years.
Lola Amour shared King’s farewell letter on its official Instagram account on March 28.
“There’s no easy way to say this, so here goes,” his letter read. “I’ve made the decision to leave Lola Amour.”
He said the band was just a hobby when they were starting out, and they’ve always had other long-term plans for themselves.
“And while I'm proud of everything we've achieved, my plans stayed the same,” King said. “Sadly, the band isn't part of it.”
After eight years, he said he realized that success, fulfillment, and happiness are different things.
“Now, I choose to be happy,” he said.
King expressed his gratitude to Lola Amour, noting they reached more than he could have ever dreamed of.
“I couldn’t think of anyone else I would have done it with,” he said.
His last gig will be on their Album Concert on April 13 at Circuit Makati Concert Grounds.
“I hope to see you there and thanks for listening for the last 8 years,” King said. “RAY OUT.”
Manu Dumayas, frontman Pio Dumayas’s brother who serves as their bass/trumpet/guitar sessionist, will take over King’s role.
In the caption, Lola Amour noted that goodbyes are never easy, but said it will always support King and what makes him happy.
“Thank you for the last 8 years, buddy! You are a huuuuge reason why we are here where we are today,” the band said. “You know we’re not a cheesy bunch, but saying that ‘we’ll miss you’ is an understatement.”
Forming in 2013, Lola Amour is known for the songs Fallen, Maybe Maybe, and Pwede Ba.
But it reached phenomenal success a decade later through Raining in Manila.
Lola Amour recently covered Kitchie Nadal’s Huwag na Huwag Mong Sasabihin.
It will release its debut self-titled studio album on April 10.
