Are you looking to get a valid ID?

The Philippine Postal Corporation (PhilPost) on Oct. 15 announced the return of Postal ID applications and renewal after a year of suspending its issuance.

Postal ID can be used in several government services and transactions, as well as banks and other financial institutions.

It's valid for three years for Filipinos and one year for foreigners.

The ID cards, which are made of polyvinyl chloride or PVC, include the owner's biometrics data, protecting them from identity theft.

PhilPost shared the requirements for the Postal ID application in a Facebook post.

For new applicants, they must bring the original and photocopy of two documents: 1) proof of identity (e.g.: Philippine Statistics Authority-issued birth certificate, Unified Multi-Purpose ID from the Government Service Insurance System or Social Security System, driver's license, passport) and 2) proof of address (e.g.: barangay clearance, certified true copy of lease, certified true copy of titles, certified true copy of real estate tax receipt; bank statement, credit card statement, school billing statement, utility bill for cable/electric/internet/landline/telephone/water).

Married women must also bring their marriage certificate.

For Postal ID renewal, applicants must bring three things: their expired Postal ID, proof of identity, and proof of address.

Application and renewal cost P550, inclusive of value-added tax.

PhilPost said there's no online application for Postal ID, only in-person application in select post office branches nationwide.
