Man invades stage, destroys crown after his wife placed second in beauty pageant
A beauty pageant in Brazil had an unexpected twist during its coronation night, when a candidate's husband went up the stage and broke the crown upon learning his wife didn't win the competition.
Local media outlet Globo reported that the incident took place during this year’s Miss Gay Mato Grosso on Saturday, May 27 after it was announced that Miss Várzea Grande Emannuelly Belini emerged as the grand winner and not his partner, Miss Cuiabá Nathally Becker.
In videos circulating online, he can be seen taking the crown from the ceremonialist's hand and slamming it on the floor. He then grabs another and destroys it.

Security guards were quick to escort him off the stage as he continued to throw a fit.
Pageant organizers released a statement on the matter on Monday, May 29, saying that they "vehemently condemn the incident."
“We would like to inform you that the legal team for our contest has been contacted and will take the appropriate legal measures," they said as they congratulated the winners and expressed their hope that they would serve as good representatives of the LGBTQ+ community.
Officials also sent their love to both the announced titleholder and the second runner-up, noting that the latter isn’t responsible for her partner’s aggression during the event.
Pageant organizer Malone Haenisch said that the competition was “very fierce” between the two finalists. "He did not consider the result fair and caused all this inconvenience and damage," he explained.
According to Globo, the event organizers will file a police report and demand compensation for damages from Becker’s husband.
