As the news of gymnast Carlos Yulo’s win in Paris broke out, Filipinos took to social media for a massive online celebration.

Golden boy Yulo takes home the Philippines’ second Olympic Gold Medal by garnering an outstanding 15.000 score at the gymnastics men’s floor exercise finals.

The entire nation erupted with Pinoy pride, expressing their excitement over this momentous win online.

Yulo’s girlfriend, Chloe Anjeleigh San Jose, posted a reel of them playfully celebrating the athlete’s win. “We did it all in god's name [Carlos],” she captioned.

Fellow Olympic Gold Medalist Hidilyn Diaz shared a post on Instagram with her heartfelt congratulations and wisdom. “I enjoy mo ang bunga ng pinagpaguran mo. At lagi mong ibabalik - sa Diyos at bayan, dahil lahat ng tagumpay natin ay hindi pansarili.”

Diaz won the Philippines its first Olympic gold in 2020 for weightlifting.

His fellow Olympians and athletes, including gymnasts Aleah Finnegan and Levi Jung-Ruivivar, boxer Eumir Marcial, and pole vaulter EJ Obiena were among those who showed their overflowing support through posts and stories.

"Our first Paris Olympics Gold Medal @c_edrielzxs congratulations ka astig," Marcial wrote.

Sports reporter Dyan Castillejo also shared a video with the athlete on Instagram with the caption: "GOLD Medal boy."

'It will not be the last'

The country’s government officials, including President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. and Senators Nancy Binay and Imee Marcos, also poured out their support. Marcos posted on Facebook: “We’ve witnessed history as Carlos Yulo clinched the Philippines’ first GOLD medal in artistic gymnastics at the Paris 2024 Olympics. I am confident that it will not be the last."

Meanwhile, the House of Representatives pledged to award Yulo P3,000,000. “This reward reflects our support for his continued success and our commitment to fostering Filipino talent on the international stage," said Representative Elizaldy Co, the House Committee on Appropriations chairman.

Yulo is the first to win the top prize for gymnastics in the Philippines. He made his Olympic debut in Tokyo, finishing 44th overall in the individual all-around.
