Piolo Pascual on finding new love: 'Not for now'
Piolo Pascual is breaking hearts as he reveals he is not actively seeking a romantic relationship.
"Not for now, busy pa ako sa career ko," he said in a recent interview with Toni Gonzaga in Toni Talks. "Lovelife ko talaga yung trabaho ko eh."
Piolo, who starred in the Metro Manila Film Festival entry The Kingdom, explained that while he has been single for 13 years now, he doesn't "see the point of being with someone," especially since he is "so busy with work."
"[Naalala ko] sinabi sa akin ni Pastor Julius, the more you stay single, the more you're gonna enjoy it, the more you're not going to look for it," he said.
Piolo continued, "I'm always with friends, I'm always with my family and that is not something I look for kasi nasanay na eh."
When asked what qualities she looks for as a future partner in life, the 47-year-old actor said that she must be "Christian," "family-oriented," and "kind" in a manner that she is not "full of herself."
In March 2024, Piolo addressed the rumored relationship with actress Shaina Magdayao during an interview with Ogie Diaz.
"Meron bang ma-re-rekindle?" Ogie asked as the two actors worked together on Kapamilya soap Pamilya Sagrado.
"Let's cross the bridge. But I don't want to get ahead of myself. I'm more for the work... We want to continue on his (Deo Edrinal) legacy. We wanna give it our best so I'll put aside the personal stuff first," Piolo answered.
"Okay naman kami ni Shai. We're good," he added.
The Flower of Evil star continued to say that if he were in a relationship with the actress, it wouldn't be something he would hide from the public.
"Sa tanda nating 'to, what you see is what you get. I'm not trying to hide anything or do something. If it's there, if it's happening, people are gonna see it. If there's anything, people are gonna know anyway," he said.
Asked about why he hasn't settled down, the actor said: "Masarap 'yung tinatahak nating path ngayon... Maganda 'yung demand ngayon for content, nag-iiba 'yung landscape ng entertainment... I'm married to my job."
Piolo was previously linked to Shaina, with reports in 2017 suggesting they had an exclusive five-year relationship. However, in 2023, he expressed disinterest in dating, stating it wasn't a priority for him at that stage of his life.
