‘Pumayat na ‘ko kakahintay’: Netizen draws laughs with photo taken after receiving his National ID
A netizen drew some laughs on social media after sharing a photo of himself with his National ID, which he finally received over a year later.
On Facebook, Joemar Santos Torres made a before-and-after post with the caption: “Dear PSA, pumayat na ‘ko kakahintay.”
His FB post went viral in no time, with Internet users giving it some laughing reactions, tagging their friends in the comments, and sharing how they could relate to him as they are also waiting to get their own ID.
According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, the delayed issuance of the cards was caused by “the high volume in the registration” that they didn’t see coming. PSA chief Dennis Mapa said that as of Oct. 17, there are around 74.28 million Filipinos who have registered for the PhilSys—and a total of 22.55 million IDs have been released since.
Later that month, the PSA announced that Filipinos can download a digital version of the PhilID, which could also be considered as valid and sufficient proof of identity and age for those who have not yet received their physical copy.
In an interview with PhilSTAR L!fe, the Pinoy accountant revealed that he signed up for the National ID on July 1, 2021 and received it on Nov. 14 this year. He has lost around 60 pounds since his registration, after deciding to make some lifestyle changes to improve his health. “Hindi po ako nag-rice for three months, almost every day ang exercise like jogging, volleyball, and badminton with my brother,” he said.
Torres shared that he feels more comfortable than ever as he “can now move faster and do so many things” without getting tired easily.
For those who are also hoping to start their fitness journey, the 24-year-old had this to say: “Discipline is very important. If may goal ka, try your best to follow your diet plan and exercise—‘wag agad susuko.”
“Monitor your progress, buy a weighing scale, enroll sa gym or buy some equipment, and have an exercise buddy,” he added.
