Kris Aquino vows to fight for Josh and Bimb amid health battle: ‘Mahaba pa ang laban ko’
Kris Aquino gave an update on the current situation of her health as she faces a “long battle” ahead to heal both her body and her broken heart.
On Jan. 12, Aquino posted on Instagram photos and videos of her getting treatment. The actress-TV host earlier shared that she will be flying abroad for further diagnostic tests and do treatments and procedures to address her drastic weight loss, which is also visible in the recent photos she posted.
She also shared that with everything happening with her health, she fights for the two most important people in her life—her sons Josh and Bimby.
“Mahaba pa ang laban ko to strengthen my body & heal my broken heart… BUT from childhood I already knew, for me weakness could never be an option… especially NOW because I have kuya Josh & Bimb who still need me to love, care, and provide for them. Para sa dalawang pinakamamahal ko, hindi ako susuko.”
On Jan. 4, Aquino confirmed on social media her break up with fiancé, former Department of Interior and Local Government secretary Mel Sarmiento. At the time, she also gave an update about her “deteriorating” health, which she said affected her relationship with her former beau.
It was in 2018 when Aquino revealed that she was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called Chronic Spontaneous Urticaria, a serious, chronic and distressing skin condition that is difficult to diagnose and manage. In 2019, she also shared in an Instagram post that she is battling a “form of lupus” that makes her allergic to medicine that can cure or manage its symptoms.
Aquino previously said she has accepted the many complications brought by her autoimmune disease, including being immunocompromised, which posed as a major challenge during the almost two-year pandemic.
Despite the health issues she is going through, Aquino reveals her recent donations to a government agency and a state-owned hospital.
“Inamin ko na malayo sa okay ang kalusugan ko… pero ginagawa pa rin namin ang lahat ng kakayain sa ngayon para makatulong sa kapwa,” she wrote on Instagram.
Aquino posted photos of her donation of 800 pieces of COVID-19 antigen test kits for Bureau of Immigration’s BUKLOD-CID members. She also pledged to donate 1,000 pieces of cheese pandesal to the Philippine General Hospital personnel, patients and their companions for 10 consecutive Wednesdays.
“Kung babatikusin, honestly CARE ko. PATULOY akong tutulong at patuloy kong i-popost. Kasi nga naman: KAILAN BA NAGING MASAMA ANG GUMAWA NG KABUTIHAN?” she said. “With everything happening in my life, kinakaya ko pa ring isipin na maraming mas mahirap ang pinagdadaanan.”
Aquino said she posted the photos of her donations after reading a Philippine STAR tweet quoting a government official answering about the Department of Health not being able to provide test kits, “I don’t know, I have no answer to that,” was the government official’s response.
She also gave her unsolicited advice to the government: “Kayo ang naka pwesto ngayon. Madaling humingi ng donations, especially pag nag THANK YOU and MALACANANG. honored ang donors. Simple lang po—lahat nakatulong, lahat may mahalagang nagawa para sa mahal nating bansa.”
Aquino also showed in her post flowers sent by friends, who she thanked for sending her other thoughtful gifts like balloons, fruits, food, rosaries and prayer books. Their gesture uplifted her, Aquino said.
“At least now, I know sino ang totoong nagmamahal at maaasahan, at sino ang makasarili at fake lang pala,” wrote Aquino who was quick to note that the seeming swipe at Sarmiento was not at all. “Hindi po ‘yung ex-fiancé and pinatatamaan. Kung siya, pinangalanan ko na lang.”
