Maymay Entrata, Nadine Lustre, and other celebrities who can totally pass as beauty queens
Now that this year’s Miss Universe pageant has ended, some people can’t help but think of Filipina beauties who can represent the Philippines for its next edition. Most of them are specifically looking at women who are making a mark in show business.
They are hoping that some celebrities can follow in the footsteps of Winwyn Marquez, who was part of the acting scene even before she joined pageantry. She ended up bagging the highly coveted Reina Hispanomericana crown in 2017.
Netizens believe these stunning women can do the same, too, should they give the pageant world a shot.
Just recently, actress and Save The Children ambassador Liza Soberano trended on social media as a fake page made internet users believe that she was going to join Miss U. She has now denied such claims in a social media post, saying, “As much as I am flattered and grateful for all of your support and comments saying that I should give Miss Universe a try, I really don’t think it is for me. I’m an introvert and stages with a huge audience scare me half to death (as ironic as it may sound).”
It can be recalled that even Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray sees Liza as a potential candidate. “She’s very, very beautiful. I feel like she would be wonderful,” declared the beauty queen. “But I really feel that it needs to be the girl who wants to do it. Even if you have so many people saying, ‘Yes, this is for you! This is your path!’ unless you feel it… It needs to be your own passion, it needs to be your own will.”
Actress Kira Balinger has been quite consistent in expressing her interest to join Miss Universe someday, and many think she would do well when the time comes. In December last year, she said joining beauty pageants is “definitely in my plans.” It might be too early now, however, as she’s been putting her focus on her flourishing acting career. “I’m still quite young to be focusing on a beauty pageant and I have a lot of things in life that I still need to learn before I enter one.”
Advocacies are very important in beauty pageants, and this is where Nadine Lustre can come into the picture. The multi-hyphenate (a talented actress, singer, and songwriter) has been upholding her advocacy for a greener planet as a member of Greenpeace Philippines.
Maymay Entrata wowed many as she modeled Furne One’s works at the Arab Fashion Week. Netizens were quick to point out how she could showcase her Filipina beauty perfectly in the international scene not only as a muse, but also as a beauty queen.
Self-love advocate Gabbi Garcia could also be an amazing Miss Universe representative, knowing she strongly stands for women empowerment and loving the skin you’re in. “Alam n'yo, kahit ako, hindi ako nakaligtas sa pamba-bodyshaming,” she opened up in a GMA show. “Marami pa ring nag-co-comment about sa katawan ko lalo na sa social media dahil siguro artista ako. Pero regardless of that dapat hindi tayo mag-bodyshame ng mga tao.”
Netizens have also been rooting for Kathryn Bernardo, who has been using her power and influence for the good of others. How so? She has taken a stand against cyberbullying via the Cybersmile Foundation and has supported animal welfare through the Compassion and Responsibility for Animals, among others. Not to mention, she’s a good actress and performer, too.
Who among them are you most excited to see on the pageant stage? Tell us in the comments!
