Wife kills husband by poisoning his drink and accidentally ends his friend's life, too
A supposedly fun drinking session just turned deadly.
A man and his friend passed away on Feb. 14 after consuming poisoned liquor from his wife in Chennai, India.
According to a report by The Straits Times, police said that the man's wife, Kavitha, intentionally killed her husband, Sukumar by contaminating his boozy drink with pesticide. She told him it was a gift from one of his pals.
Sukumar decided to bring it to work and share it with his colleague named Harilal. The effects of the poison kicked in after a few minutes.
The two were immediately rushed to the hospital, where Sukumar managed to reveal that he drank from a liquor bottle handed to him by his wife.
The Straits Times stated that the tragic incident was a result of an unhappy marriage, adding that Kavitha and Sukumar were not on good terms since Sukumar accused Kavitha of cheating in their relationship.
They thought of ending their marriage but one of their relatives convinced them to make it work. It only prompted “more fights" in the process, and "that’s when the woman appeared to have decided to end it all,” according to an investigator of the case.
The laboratory has found traces of toxic substances that Kavitha allegedly combined with his drink.
Kavitha has been charged with murder, but police investigation is still ongoing in search for her possible accomplice.
