MTV VMAs 2022: The black carpet looks that caught our eye
Next to the Moonmen statues that the MTV Video Music Awards 2022 winners took home, our eyes were also on some striking looks that stood out on the black carpet.
There was Lil Nas X who went topless to bring feathery elements to the fore and Lizzo who opted for a voluminous taffeta gown. Some attendees kept things simple with an added oomph, while others proved that one can’t go wrong with a hint of skin.
Here are some of the looks that caught our eye in their own ways at the affair.
Lil Nas X
The singer, who won three (Best Collaboration, Best Art Direction, and Best Visual Effects) out of seven nominations, was nothing short of outrageous at the recently concluded event. Walking the black carpet without a top, he captivated many with his feathery headpiece and bottoms in black.
Lizzo
All eyes were on Lizzo as she arrived at the affair in a blue-black voluminous Jean Paul Gaultier number. Amping up her look were her gold accessories (that lip ring though!) and dark lippie that she matched with slicked-back hair. She took home the Video for Good prize for her hit song About Damn Time.
Avril Lavigne
Looking edgy as ever, Avril Lavigne rocked a black Versace ensemble with a rock chain belt. Her orange dip-dyed hair added a pop of color to her casual VMAs look—a stylish combo that easily made her a standout at the affair.
Taylor Swift
Hello, subtly sexy Taylor Swift! The Video of the Year, Best Longform Video, and Best Direction (for All Too Well — 10-Minute Version) winner carried glitz and glam from head to toe, all thanks to her Oscar de la Renta dress and Christian Louboutin shoes. Of course she wore her signature beauty look: cat eye and red lip.
Sofia Carson
How lovely did Sofia Carson look at the VMAs? Her effortless beauty shone as she kept things uncomplicated in a Carolina Herrera creation featuring a cocoon hood. She wore dazzling silver accessories that easily took her overall look to the next level.
Kerri Colby
Hotness overload! RuPaul's Drag Race star Kerri Colby turned heads on the black carpet in a stunning bodysuit with some hints of skin. Her bright Mugler outfit that she paired with equally vivid hair made her one of the absolute eye-catchers of the night.
The 2022 MTV Video Music Awards were held on Monday, Aug. 29 (Philippine time) at the Prudential Center in New Jersey.
