Halloween is upon us and this year’s celebrations will definitely be different as the horrors of the pandemic continue to haunt the living. Virtual All Hallow’s Eve celebrations sans trick-or-treating and revelry are already set and the Halloween-loving crowds are ready to unleash their costumes and makeup creations on social media.

Still looking for an inspiration on what creature or character to channel this year? Conjure the spirit of Halloween with fashion designer and makeup artist Happy Andrada’s creations for the “31 days of Halloween makeup challenge.”

Andrada, who studied professional makeup artistry at The London School of Beauty and Makeup apart from finishing fashion courses at the Central Saint Martins in London and the London College of Fashion, takes about an hour to finish her creations, which involves a tedious process of putting makeup and hairstyling, getting in the costume, and taking photos.

For her favorite character, Sally from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, Andrada shares some tips. “Sally’s eyes are not round. Create depth around the eyes by using different shades, and play with highlighting and contouring. Some areas have darker parts than the rest."

One of her characters is the witch form of the Evil Queen in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. For this, Andrada said shading is important, so as the contour, highlighting, and proper placement of lines.

Andrada, who coincidentally does most of her creations during witching hour, uses different makeup brands for her creations like Mehron, Illamasqua, Norvina, Kryolan, SUVA, Urban Decay and MAC. With her favorite time of the year, Andrada’s most important tip for those who dare try her Halloween makeup creations is, “Have fun with it!”
