Levi's launches a Pokémon collection—complete with Misty's outfit, too!
We don’t know about you, but nostalgia clothing always hits the spot. We’re talking about the latest cartoon collaboration in fashion, the Levi’s x Pokémon collection.
Levi’s denim jeans, with its authentically vintage feel, timeless cut, and comfortable fit, have become a staple in every closet. They come in different cuts, washes, and patterns, all with the brand’s iconic back pocket design. But this time, a new rendition of the 551 Z Authentic Straight jeans is making its debut along with several other pieces in celebration of Pokémon’s 25th anniversary.
Beloved Japanese animated series Pokémon’s contribution to the fashion world is gaining a positive momentum. In fact recently, it has teamed up with Louis Vuitton and The North Face. But this collaboration with Levi’s is highly anticipated, especially to the kids and adults who grew up watching Pokémon.
“It’s so fun to have people talk about their love of okémon,” said Karyn Hillman, chief product officer at Levi Strauss & Co. “Everyone has their favorite. So the fact that we had this ability to play and create with so many iconic Pokémon and characters, was really a special experience. It’s such a thoughtful collection that respects and celebrates the world of Pokémon, and it was so cool mixing our icons and history with theirs—it’s nostalgic and optimistic, with a little bit of escapism.”
The collection gives a nod to the first season of the series with Kanto region Pokémon. There’s the ‘90s style Vintage Fit Trucker Jacket and 551®Z Authentic Straight jean in stonewash indigo, embroidered with a cute Pikachu and lightning bolt patches, and also a version for the fashion risk-takers, featuring an all-over printed jeans and denim jacket with a forest design.
For die-hard Ash and Misty fans, Levi’s also made a cap similar to what Ash wore in the original series, and a yellow tank top and shorts with red suspenders just like Misty’s outfit.
The rest of the collection is a mixture of items for any Pokemon fan—from graphic tees to hoodies, caps, socks, and bags.
