Moira 'can forgive' Jason over split, says God can make her a 'diamond' again despite feeling 'like broken glass' now
Singer Moira Dela Torre said she "can forgive" her husband Jason Hernandez over the recent crisis of their three-year marriage, noting that she's "free" as God is by her side.
In her first-ever public appearance a week after their publicized split, Dela Torre on Kapamilya Online's talk show Magandang Buhay hosted by Regine Velasquez, Jolina Magdangal, and Melai Cantiveros said that when everything else in her life fails, God never will.
"Iyon talaga ang pinanghahawakan ko," said Dela Torre, a devout Christian, on June 6. "I may feel like broken glass right now, but God can make me a diamond again."
"I know I'll be whole again. I know he'll be whole again," she added.
Magdangal also asked Dela Torre how's her heart doing, to which she replied, "“Ang hirap na hindi isipin na, ‘Ako ba iyong may diperensiya?'"
"I always say, "What did I do wrong?" she said. "Especially now. Saan ba ako nagkulang?"
She also mentioned in jest that she didn't expect her 2020 breakup anthem Paubaya would cut deep like this.
I may feel like broken glass right now, but God can make me a diamond again.
In any case, Dela Torre said she knows in her heart that "true love" exists.
"It may not be in human form, but it exists in my life because God is with me," she said.
She's also attributing her healing process to God, who she said is making all things "beautiful in His time."
"Mabait talaga si Lord, kasi dito ko nakikita na pwede pala magsabay ang grieving at healing," she said. "Pwede pa rin pala ako maka-experience ng joy sa umaga kahit umiiyak ako sa gabi."
"Pwede pa rin pala ako maka-experience na mahanap ko ang sarili ko (sa umaga) kahit nawawala ako sa gabi," she added.
Asked if she thinks she's surrounded by the right people during this difficult period, Dela Torre said yes, noting that she has trustworthy friends. She was also thankful to be selected as a judge for Idol Philippines, a reality singing contest, alongside Velasquez, Gary Valenciano, and Chito Miranda.
"Sobrang perfect timing po ng pagdating sa akin ng mga tao sa buhay ko," she said.
Cantiveros, meanwhile, jokingly asked Dela Torre if she already wrote a song based on what happened, to which Velasquez hinted that Dela Torre actually did. "Hindi niyo kakayanin."
Pwede pala magsabay ang grieving at healing. Pwede pa rin pala ako maka-experience ng joy sa umaga kahit umiiyak ako sa gabi.
Hernandez in a Facebook post last May 31 announced "with a heavy heart" that they're "parting ways," disclosing that he had been "unfaithful" to Dela Torre during their marriage.
The following June 3, Dela Torre stressed that while her marriage with Hernandez "was not perfect, she "stayed true" to her vows and "never cheated" on him.
Some netizens came up with wild speculations about the couple's breakup, and Dela Torre said it "hurts to see fabricated stories" being told about them.
