Actor Xian Lim set the record straight regarding his breakup with actress Kim Chiu, saying he did not initiate it.

In an interview with Boy Abunda on Wednesday's episode of Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, the King of Talk asked Xian if he and Kim are still friends following their separation.

"Of course, yes," Xian responded, adding that he and Kim haven't talked since they decided to part ways.".

"When that night happened, maayos 'yung pag-uusap namin. Of course, mayroong iyakan, but there was that assurance na we—we went through 12 years, 'di ba? 12 years of our existence, so it has that respect, you know?" he said.

When Tito Boy asked if their decision to break up was consensual or a mutual decision between them, Xian said, 'Ang dami kasing kuwento, especially ‘yun nga ang mahirap sa isang public relationship. And they've been there since day one, noong panliligaw pa lang all the way to more than a decade… People come up with all these made-up lies, kung ano man. But, we released our statement na we both decided to part ways,' he explained.

However, the Kapuso actor clarified that he didn't initiate the breakup.

"To be completely honest, I wasn't the one who engaged in the separation. 'Yun lang po siya. It's that simple."

"I wasn't the one who initiated the breakup," Xian emphasized.

'My record is clean, and I am proud of that'

Although Xian admitted that their supporters were upset, had mixed emotions, and felt deceived, particularly by him, he insisted that his record is "clean."

"I understand why the supporters are angry, I understand why they feel betrayed. Pero masakit rin ‘yun para sa amin," he said. "They're watching us from a distance. Ito kaming dalawa, you know, we have our talks."

"Nag-usap kami privately. Hindi na kailangan himayin kung sino ang nag-kulang. I think the length speaks for itself, and 'yung pambabatikos sa akin ng karamihan, I think they should look at it from us... from the lens, for more than a decade, I never had any... My record is clean, and I am proud of that," he added.

Earlier in June, Kim opened up again about her love life, months after parting ways with Xian. She hoped that Xian would stop making statements about their past relationship.

“It ended, the journey was beautiful. Ayaw ko nang maging masama 'yung loob ko," she said.

Kim added: “Kasi paulit-ulit na lang. Let's give it a rest, and let's leave respect to each other."

The former couple dated for 12 years before confirming their separation during the holidays last year, writing, "It was our mutual decision to transition our relationship into what we hope to be a lifelong friendship."

Xian officially confirmed his romance with film producer Iris Lee in May after sparking dating rumors in December 2023.
