Pete Davidson undergoes trauma therapy following Kanye West’s online harassment
Nearly a week after Pete Davidson and Kim Kardashian called it quits after nine months of dating, an insider told People that Pete sought help after Kanye West’s series of online bullying.
According to the source who has a “close” relationship with the former SNL comedian, Kanye’s hostile social media posts served as a trigger for Davidson, as the rapper’s “attention and negativity” led him to seek therapy.
Despite the comedian’s current status, the source told the outlet that Davidson did not regret his relationship with Kim and “wants it to be made very clear that she's been nothing but supportive of him throughout their relationship."
After Kim and Pete’s breakup made the rounds online on August 6, West shared his reaction on Instagram with a now-deleted cryptic photo of a photoshopped copy of the New York Times newspaper which had the headline “Skete Davidson dead at 28.”
According to a report by The Sun, Kardashian reported West's post on Instagram shortly afterward. He was then suspended from posting on the social media app for 24 hours for violating its policies against hate speech, harassment, and bullying.
West has repeatedly attacked Davidson on social media following the comedian’s relationship with his ex-wife. The musician has previously thrown shade against Davidson in his music video for "Eazy" featuring The Game, which showed a stop-motion figure resembling Davidson being buried into the ground.
This is not the first time that Davidson dealt with bullying. In an interview with The New York Times, Davidson's mother Amy revealed that her son has been bullied since his father Scott, a firefighter in New York, heroically died while on duty at the 9/11 attack at the World Trade Center.
In addition, Amy said her son, who was just seven at that time, later became a "lab rat" for medical experts researching how terror attacks affect victims' children. She added that Davidson began experiencing mental health problems at that time.
West, on the other hand, has had a series of moments where he was accused by the public of bullying. This includes the time he disrupted Taylor Swift's VMA Award moment in 2009 and when recently demanded Billie Ellish to apologize for allegedly disrespecting Travis Scott.
Prior to their split, Kadarshian defended West from Twitter rants, saying that her then-husband has bipolar disorder and is in need of everyone's "compassion and empathy."
