SEVENTEEN becomes first K-Pop artist to hold their own session at UNESCO
SEVENTEEN will hold their own session at this year’s UNESCO Youth Forum in Paris.
The group’s agency, Pledis Entertainment, said in an announcement on Friday, Oct. 27, that SEVENTEEN will be the first K-Pop artist to ever host their very own session at the next UNESCO Youth Forum.
“SEVENTEEN will be taking the podium at the 13th UNESCO Youth Forum held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France on November 14 at 7 p.m. (Paris time),” the agency said.
The group will also give a speech and perform for about an hour. The session will focus on "the solidarity between the global youths and education that will bring change to the future of the youth generation and the world."
"This goes to show that SEVENTEEN has come to play a key role in the global community who represents not just its fans, but its fellow youth generation," the agency stated.
In August 2022, all thirteen members, together with Pledis CEO Han Seong-su, signed a business agreement to team up with UNESCO for an education campaign, titled "#GoingTogether," wherein the group donated part of the proceeds from their “Be the Sun” world tour to underprivileged youth.
The UNESCO Youth Forum, which SEVENTEEN is set to take part in, is an event that takes place during the annual UNESCO General Conference in Paris. The program offers young people a forum for discussion and debate as well as an opportunity to present their suggestions and ideas to Member States.
This year's leg will happen on November 14 and 15 at UNESCO's headquarters in Paris, France.
