Jennifer Lopez, Ben Affleck finalize divorce

It's officially over for Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez.

The two have settled their divorce after being married for two years, PEOPLE Magazine reported on Tuesday, Jan. 7, citing court documents they obtained.

The decision came almost 20 weeks after Jennifer filed for divorce from Ben on Aug. 20, with irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split.

The hit singer asked to have her former name—Jennifer Lynn Lopez—back after their breakup.  She also said in the official documents that she did not want her nor Ben to be awarded spousal support and that she wants their assets and debts to be separated.

The international stars started being hounded by divorce rumors in May, when a report from TMZ claimed that Ben has been staying at a separate house in Los Angeles for weeks.

The rumors were further fueled following J.Lo's lone appearance at the Met Gala, where she served as co-host.

Eagle-eyed social media users also noticed that J.Lo recently liked an Instagram post from a relationship coach who, in text images, said that one cannot build a healthy relationship with someone who lacks integrity and emotional safety, doesn't respect your time, lacks effective communication skills, and doesn't know who they are or what they want.

"You can’t build a relationship with someone who is disconnected from themselves. We can’t expect someone to see us when we can’t even see themselves," the post's caption read. "Getting in a relationship is the easy part. Nurturing & fostering it is a different story. After all, love is not a feeling, it’s action," it read.

"Bennifer" started their romance in 2002 before calling off their engagement two years later and starting their own families with other partners.

It wasn't until 2021 that they reignited their romance and married twice: first, in an intimate ceremony in Las Vegas, and then in a formal affair in Georgia in 2022.
