Cristy Fermin loses cyberlibel cases filed by Sharon Cuneta and Kiko Pangilinan, says legal battle not yet over
Showbiz insider Cristy Fermin lost the cyberlibel cases filed against her by couple Sharon Cuneta and Kiko Pangilinan but pointed out that their legal battle isn't over yet.
In a video, Fermin said she is facing five counts of cyberlibel for her works titled, "KC ayaw na ng drama," "Mega, may favoritism," "Palusot ni Sharon buking," "Diary nina Sharon at Kris Aquino social media," "Sharon Cuneta problemado talaga," and "Sharon at KC sayang na relasyon."
Fermin said her legal team previously argued that Cuneta is a public figure as the reason and explanation for writing such pieces.
"Pero sabi ko nga po, hindi naman po sa lahat ng panahon, ang ating gusto natutupad. Natalo po ako," she said.
But Fermin noted that the cases are still on the fiscal level and will be elevated to Makati Regional Trial Court.
"Ang amin lamang po dito, hindi lamang ngayon ang laban. Ito ay sa piskalya pa lamang," she said. "Aakyat po ito."
There will be a hearing and whatever the decision would be, Fermin said there's still the Court of Appeals. If ever she loses there, she can still turn to the Supreme Court.
"Basta ito lamang po ang mahalaga: Hindi ito ang katapusan ng mundo," she said. "Ang laban po ay hindi natin uurungan at tayo ay patuloy na maniniwala na lahat ng tao ay mayroong dahilan at katuwiran sa kanilang ipinaglalaban."
Cuneta and Pangilinan sued Fermin for "broadcasting baseless and malicious statements regarding their personal and family affairs."
Fermin talked about how Cuneta and her daughter KC's on-and-off relationship was due to the latter allegedly misplacing a valuable possession by the Megastar, even allegedly pawning it. She also wrote about how Cuneta and Pangilinan did not post any greetings for Concepcion during her birthday.
Fermin is also the subject of legal action from Bea Alonzo for "false, malicious, and damaging information" and Sarah Lahbati's mother, though didn't state the reasons why.
