John Lloyd Cruz shares how son Elias saved his life: 'Napakaswerte ko'
John Lloyd Cruz has opened up about his fatherhood journey with his son Elias, sharing how the latter “saved his life” ever since he came to his life.
“Sobrang panalo, napakaswerte ko,” the award-winning actor answered how his fatherhood has been during his interview with the “King of Talk” in Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.
He went on to share how his perspective on life changed ever since Elias came into his life. "Ang lupit nung naging role niya sa buhay ko," he began.
"Ang dami niyang binigay na bago, bagong kahulugan, bagong duties, all of a sudden iba na 'yung tingin mo sa lahat,” he added.
When asked if he could explain it further, the One More Chance actor said: "Niligtas niya [Elias] 'yung buhay ko.”
"Hindi ko ma-imagine 'yung buhay ko kung paano [magpapatuloy] kung hindi [siya] dumating."
He also opened up about how he helps his son learn things independently.
“[Leading] without imposing. ‘Yung gusto ko siyang mag-develop siya ng sarili niyang capacity to decide on certain things,” he said.
John Lloyd shares his five-year-old son with actress Ellen Adarna. Now that they are in their new romantic relationships, the two are co-parenting their child.
While the actor admitted that co-parenting is “a bit of a challenge,” he said he is lucky to have such a harmonious relationship with Ellen and her husband Derek Ramsay in taking care of Elias.
"Napakaswerte ko at ako ay nagpapasalamat kay Ellen, kay Derek [Ramsay] dahil iniisip nila 'yung kapakanan ng bata," he said.
John Lloyd and Ellen welcomed Elias in 2018. Since their split in 2019, the two have been in their respective new romances. Ellen got married to Derek in November 2022, while John Lloyd has recently confirmed his romantic relationship with artist Isabel Santos.
