Hello, MrsBeast: MrBeast gets engaged to fellow content creator Thea Booysen
YouTube star MrBeast is about to have his "MrsBeast" as he just got engaged to his girlfriend, fellow content creator Thea Booysen.
MrBeast, or Jimmy Donaldson in real life, on Instagram shared photos of him popping the question as he and Booysen were wearing matching blue Christmas sweaters.
"Ya boy did a thing," he said in the caption followed by three smiling faces with hearts emojis.
Booysen shared a video of her sitting on Donaldson's lap upon getting engaged.
"That's awesome," she said before Donaldson told her to show off her ring on camera.
Booysen also carried their dog Alfie, whom Donaldson asked, "What do you think of it?"
In an interview with PEOPLE Magazine, Booysen said the engagement happened at their home on Christmas Day, surrounded by their families.
"My family flew out from South Africa for Christmas and we were going to do Christmas in our house so both families were here. We were opening presents, and then for the very last present he asked me to close my eyes because it was a surprise," she said.
Donaldson, meanwhile, said he "intentionally dropped a large box to make noise before presenting the real gift—with the ring inside—to her."
"And then I went down on a knee and proposed," he added.
Donaldson noted that he made sure to include Booysen's family in the "momentous occasion," as she's "really close" to them.
According to the vlogger, they're planning to have a "definitely more private" ceremony.
Booysen said they're thinking of exchanging vows on an island.
"We're not going to try and have a big, extravagant wedding," she shared. "It's going to be nice, but it's certainly going to be intimate [with] close family and friends."
Donaldson met Booysen in 2022 during a visit to her home country.
Donaldson has been active on YouTube since 2012, but became popular in 2018 for donating thousands of dollars to fellow YouTubers and streamers from Twitch, a video game streaming platform. He has since made videos revolving around expensive stunts and cash giveaways. During his birthday in May, he gave $50,000 (P2.78 million) to five lucky Instagrammers, each receiving $10,000 (P558,000).
In 2021, Donaldson became the highest-paid YouTuber with earnings worth $54 million (P2.8 billion)—the most for any YouTuber ever—according to Forbes.
