Grimes sues Elon Musk over parental rights of their three children
Singer Grimes sued Elon Musk, with whom she has three children, over parental rights.
NBC News reported on Wednesday, Oct. 4 that Grimes, born Clair Boucher, filed a petition to establish a parental relationship in San Francisco Superior Court last Friday, Sept. 29.
A notice of alternative dispute resolution methods was also filed that day, while the court documents weren't available, according to NBC News.
Musk and Grimes have a three-year-old son named X Æ A-12 and a 20-month-old daughter named Exa Dark Sideræl, whom they call "X" and "Y" respectively.
They welcomed their third son, Techno Mechanicus or "Tau," last September, as detailed in Musk's biography written by Walter Isaacson.
Grimes, in a now-deleted reply to a post on X (formerly Twitter), asked Musk to allow her to see their son. Grimes was replying to Isaacson's tweet which showed a photo of Musk and his twins with tech executive Shivon Zilis.
"Tell Shivon to unblock me and tell Elon to let me see my son or plz respond to my lawyer," Grimes's reply read. "I have never been allowed to see a photo of these children until this moment, despite the situation utterly ripping my family apart.”
After deleting her reply, Grimes on X apologized to her followers, saying she had a word with Zilis.
"Hey, I wud prefer to not breathe any more life into this current press cycle but I want to de-escalate the narrative atm," she said.
"I spoke with Shivon at length finally, which was long overdue," she said, adding it wasn't her fault and the public shouldn't be angry with her.
"We respect each other a lot and we're excited to become friends and have the kids grow up together."
Zilis responded to Grimes, saying it all "ended up for the best."
"Thank you for taking the time to really connect and understand each other," she said. "So glad we had such a wonderful talk, was insanely overdue. You're a total badass and I respect you very much as well."
"I can't wait for kiddo play date and congrats on baby Tau as well!" she added.
Aside from Grimes and Zilis, Musk also has five children with his ex-wife Justine Musk: twins Griffin and Vivian as well as triplets Kai, Saxon, and Damian.
