Dingdong Dantes reacts to 'Rewind' casket being sold for P250,000
The metal casket that was used in the MMFF 2023 entry Rewind has been sold for P250,000.
In a YouTube vlog uploaded on Friday, Feb. 16, funeral service owner Pasky Ilagan can be seen selling the valuable item to rapper and entrepreneur Jayson Luzadas a.k.a. "Boss Toyo."
“Ito po ‘yung ginamit sa shooting ng Rewind. First time humiga ni Dingdong Dantes,” he said, showing a short clip of the actor lying in the coffin as proof.
Boss Toyo first inspected the casket and asked for Ilagan’s selling price, which was initially set at P1 million.
“Unang-una, walang pirma ni Dingdong,” Boss Toyo reasoned out. Ilagan said Dantes was supposed to sign the casket’s mattress, but wasn’t able to since the shoot was fast-paced at the time.
He offered to buy it for P200,000, but Ilagan asked for P500,000. In the end, the two agreed on a price of P250,000.
The internet personality also appealed to Dantes if he could visit their place to sign the casket for authenticity.
“Sir Dingdong, alam ko nanood ka lagi ng Pinoy Pawnstars so dito sa harapan ko 'yung hinigaan mo sa Rewind, I hope 'pag nagkasundo kami ni sir, pasyalan mo naman ako sa aking munting shop para mapirmahan mo,” he said.
After it went viral, Dantes shared entertainment reporter MJ Felipe’s tweet on the video via his Instagram story.
“[Medyo] malambot naman siya sa loob,” he wrote, adding a winking emoji.
Directed by Mae Cruz-Alviar, Rewind was one of the MMFF entries in 2023. Dantes starred in the film alongside his wife, Marian Rivera.
In January, the box office film crossed the P900 million mark, making it the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time.
