Apple rumored to be working on budget iPhone SE 4 with similar look to iPhone 14
Is a new budget iPhone coming soon?
It's been two years since Apple released the iPhone SE 2022, its more affordable smartphone, and new renders obtained by tech website 91mobiles through industry sources show more details about the upcoming phone, including what it will look like.
The last iPhone SE from 2022 featured blocky bezels and a home button, which was a different take as most phones released in the past few years diverted from bezels in favor of notches or cutouts for the front cameras. Most phones released also no longer featured physical buttons on the screen to give users a full display.
It looks like Apple is giving its budget iPhone a refreshed look as the leaked CAD renders give a glimpse of the iPhone SE looking more like the iPhone 14.
In the images, the iPhone SE 4 is said to have a 6.1-inch display with a notch similar to the iPhone 12, 13, and 14 where the camera and other sensors will be located. Dimensions are also reportedly similar to the previous models at 147.7 x 71.5 x 7.7 mm.
The renders don't show yet if the coming iPhone will have a USB-C port like the new iPhone 15 series but MacRumors predicts that it may also ditch the Lightning port.
Another rumor suggests that an Action button, which was also first seen on the iPhone 15, could be found on the new budget device.
For its camera, the leak suggests the iPhone SE 4 could have a single camera module like its predecessor.
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously said that the budget phone was planned to come out in 2024 but was canceled. He predicted in April 2023 that the SE 4 "is not currently part of Apple's new product planning for 2024/2025."
It's best to take the rumors with a grain of salt until Apple confirms that they are launching a new budget model. As it does annually, the tech giant is also expected to release the iPhone 16 in late 2024.
