Lovi Poe is moving to ABS-CBN, will be part of 'Doctor Foster' remake, says report
Another GMA-7 star is moving to rival network ABS-CBN. This is after reports surfaced that long-time GMA-7 talent Sunshine Dizon is transferring to the Kapamilya Network.
According to a Pilipino Star Ngayon report published on Wednesday, April 21, Lovi Poe is also moving to ABS-CBN.
Lovi, who has been with GMA-7 since 2006, currently stars in the network’s nighttime soap opera Owe My Love. But according to reports, the show will end its run soon—and will be Lovi’s last show with GMA-7, at least for now. Her contract with the network has already expired in July of last year; she last signed a network contract with GMA-7 in 2016.
This means Lovi can work with other networks after Owe My Love ends.
The report adds that Lovi is slated to be part of ABS-CBN’s upcoming adaptation of the BBC drama Doctor Foster, the source material of the popular Korean drama The World of the Married, with Kapamilya actress Jodi Sta. Maria.
Of course, ABS-CBN has yet to release the official cast of ts Doctor Foster adaptation.
Lovi’s reported move to ABS-CBN is both exciting and curious, as the 32-year-old actress is one of GMA-7’s most popular stars. The daughter of the late action star Fernando Poe Jr., Lovi made her TV drama acting debut via the 2006 show Bakekang (coincidentally, co-starring Sunshine Dizon). She has since top-billed numbers shows for the network.
It can even be said that Lovi is one of the few GMA-7 actresses who has successfully carved a film career for herself, starring in more than 25 films in her 15-year stay in showbiz. She won the Best Actress award in the 2010 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival movie Mayohan.
She’s also not the only long-time GMA-7 actress to leave the network. In recent months, Kris Bernal and Janine Gutierrez—both home-grown talents of the network—have also moved to different TV stations.
