Mind-bending new trailer for ‘WandaVision’ features Marvel's most unusual couple

Suburbia never looked this strange. 

Disney shared a brand new trailer for WandaVision during their recently held Disney Investor Day presentation, giving fans a trippy new look at the Marvel Cinematic Universe's most unusual couple.

After getting an idea of the weirdness in store for us in the first trailer released last September, the second trailer leaves us with even more questions and very few answers.

With every new glimpse of Marvel's first Disney Plus streaming series, it’s obvious that WandaVision will be unlike anything we’ve seen before from the Marvel Universe films or on modern television shows for that matter.

The 1 minute 27 second long trailer delves deep into a surreal world, blending the style of a classic sitcoms with the MCU featuring Wanda Maximoff a.k.a. Scarlet Witch played by Elizabeth Olsen and her (deceased) android lover Vision, played by Paul Bettany. 

In the time-hopping series, the domesticated superhero couple seem to be stuck in some alternate TV reality living their ideal suburban lives, complete with perky neighbors and canned laughter from the audience, when they begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems. 

The characters' style and outfits seem to jump through decades, starting with a vintage black and white '50s feel to a '70s Brady Bunch-esque aesthetic, classic superhero costumes from the comic books, along with modern day scenarios. 

The trailer brings a lot of questions to mind. First of all, how is Vision alive again, considering he was killed off by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War—and did not come back in Endgame. Secondly, what the heck is going on here?

The new trailer also gives a better look at the couple’s neighbor Agnes, played by Kathryn Hahn and Teyonah Parris as a grown-up Monica Rambeau, the kid who helped Carol Danvers choose the colors of her outfit which she later used as Captain Marvel. It also also features brief flashes from Kat Dennings’ Darcy Lewis, Jane Foster’s assistant from the first two Thor movies, and Randall Park’s Jimmy Woo, Scott’s parole officer from Ant-Man and The Wasp.

At this point, we have no idea how all the films will tie together in the series.

There's a lot to unpack including a notable reference to the "House of M" as reported by ScreenRant, a major comic book storyline that involved Scarlet Witch suffering a mental breakdown and trying to alter the fabric of reality.

Originally slated for a December 2020 release, WandaVision is now scheduled to premiere on Disney Plus on Jan. 15, 2021, and will consist of six episodes.

WandaVision will be the first series to kick off Phase Four of the MCU, which also includes the films Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Eternals, and loads of other sequels.
