Streamer crashes P11.3 million sports car as he uses phone while driving in the rain

A 20-year-old streamer crashed his sports car worth $200,000 (P11.3 million) as he was using his phone.

The Daily Mail reported that Jack Doherty was live on the platform Kick filming himself and his friend, referred to as Michael, while driving down a Miami highway in his customized McLaren 570S. Over 185,000 people were watching the live stream.

The video, which has since been removed from Kick, shows Doherty checking his phone while driving during a heavy rain.

He then suddenly loses control of the car, skidding across several lanes before veering into a metal barrier.

He shared a video of the incident's aftermath on X with the caption, "Crashed my McLaren… glad we’re both ok," adding a prayer and a red heart emoji.

In the video, Doherty screams for help as two men approached his car and brought him out.

"My f***ing car," he can be heard saying. "Holy s**t, no. Are you f***ing kidding me, bro?"

He also checked on Michael, who had blood dripping from his temple as he remained in the passenger's seat.

"Are you good? Oh s**t," Doherty told his passenger.

In another video, Doherty and Michael were in a hospital room, where the latter was getting stitches for his injuries.

"We're in the hospital after the crash. How are you feeling, Michael?" Doherty said as he zoomed the camera to Michael, who replied, "Amazing."

Doherty's Kick account was taken down, according to PEOPLE, and his page directs to an error message when visiting it.

According to its community guidelines, Kick users must "prioritize your safety and the safety of those around you by avoiding dangerous [behavior]."

"Prioritize safety for yourself, your audience, the public and anyone else involved," the guidelines further state. "If someone is in danger or needs help, turn your camera away and contact local EMS immediately."

Kick told PEOPLE that it "does not condone illegal activity, which is why [it] swiftly took action and moved to ban this creator from the platform."

Commenters on Doherty's video criticized him for using his phone while driving.

"You nearly killed yourself and your friend, and yet you would rather have him filming everything while he's bleeding from his head, you're truly what's wrong with the world nowadays," one user said.

"You need to be in jail," another user said.

Doherty's fellow streamer dakotaz, Brett Hoffman in real life, quoted his X video, saying, "We live in a world where fame is chased harder than compassion."

"A kid, more concerned with recording and texting, didn’t even check on his friend in the passenger seat—his first thought was his car," Hoffman said. "This is the illness we face."

Doherty's content mostly involves stunts and pranks, including illegal ones.
