Philippine Airlines among Asia Pacific's Top 10 most 'on-time' airlines
The Philippine Airlines (PAL) was named as one of the most "on-time" airlines in the Asia Pacific, according to aviation analytics site Cirium.
Based on their 2024 On-Time Performance Report, the local air carrier was included in the top ten punctual airlines in the Asia-Pacific region, becoming the only Philippine carrier to achieve a placement.
The airline placed seventh overall, improving its ranking from its previous eighth spot in the list.
This puts PAL ahead of most Southeast Asian, Chinese, Korean, and Australian carriers, managing to outdo Indonesia's Garudo Indonesia, Hong Kong's Cathay Pacific, and Australia's Qantas.
The report detailed that the flag carrier achieved an on-time arrival performance of 76.06%, covering over 112,000 flights across the Philippine flag carrier's global network.
For January 2024 in particular, PAL received the distinction of being the most punctual airline after it had an on-time performance of 86.85%.
PAL President and Chief Operating Officer Stanley Ng expressed his gratitude for the recognition as it "affirms the long-term investments we are making in enhancing reliability and efficiency in all our operations, and always at the highest level of safety in line with Philippine Airlines' uncompromising safety culture."
Meanwhile, Japan Airlines dominated the list as the most on-time airline in Asia, having a score of 80.90% for on-time arrivals covering over 314,774 flights.
It is followed by All Nippon Airways, Singapore Airlines, Air New Zealand, Thai AirAsia, and Vietnam Airlines.
