Time for a new skill? This coffee shop is launching a barista internship program in March
Are you a coffee lover with aspirations of learning the art of making the beloved drink?
Arabica Philippines, a Japan-based coffee shop, is set to run an eight-week training program beginning in March for youth aged 16 to 20 years old, offering a diverse barista practice syllabus and a training certificate.
A barista crash course was held by the café on Feb. 14 for Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) members where 12 members of the Katipunan ng Kabataan ng Katupara learned how to make coffee the "Arabica Way" under the guidance of Arabica Philippines Head Barista Lawrenze Marcella.
"We take great pride in our meticulous process here at Arabica Philippines. Our strict adherence to steps and procedures, particularly those focused on food and hygiene safety, is what truly sets us apart," Marcella said.
"This 'Arabica way' of manually crafting a cup of coffee, ensuring the highest quality, and relying on our highly trained baristas' expertise is just one aspect that we aim to share with our participants."
Other details, such as where to sign up and other related requirements and qualifications, will be posted by Arabica next month.
Last July 2023, the Khoffee Group Corporation—the new franchise holder, opened its first Arabica Philippines branch at the Mitsukoshi Mall in Taguig. Likewise, they opened their second branch—the roastery and flagship store, at Bonifacio Global City (BGC) last November.
