Bea Alonzo opens up about Dominic Roque split: 'Hindi ako ang nakipag-break'

Bea Alonzo briefly opened up about her breakup with Dominic Roque, revealing that she wasn't the one who initiated it.

In an interview with entertainment reporter Nelson Canlas, the actress shared how false narratives about her life, including her split with Dominic, made her feel.

"Sobrang sakit niya. Yes, it affects you," she began. "It's one thing to go through something silently, like a very, very huge heartbreak, but it's another thing to be going through it in front of the public na iba 'yung narrative."

She then dismissed rumors that she was the one who called it quits with Dominic. "Hindi, hindi ako ang nakipag-break," she said without getting into much detail.

"Huwag na natin pag-usapan 'yun. Let's leave it in the past. It's amicable. Okay naman kami," she went on.

"I think it will be disrespectful to the relationship and to the other person to talk about it. It's a very sensitive topic, and gusto kong bigyang ng respeto at gusto kong iwan sa magandang paraan what we had," she added.

Bea and Dominic announced their breakup in February. In their joint statement, they pointed out how there were people who confirmed their split "without [their] consent" and how others created "ridiculous" stories about it.

"Unfortunately, some even confirmed our breakup without our consent, and some created ridiculous stories that had no basis and were utterly false, so we felt the need to share this announcement with great sadness, for our peace of mind and our families," they wrote.

Dominic, in another statement, also called out showbiz columnist Cristy Fermin for "malicious innuendos" regarding his sexuality. He further stated that his lawyers are reviewing her reports and may take action against any defamatory statements.

The two filed separate cyber libel cases against Fermin in May this year. Bea also filed the same complaint against online host Ogie Diaz, stating that she became a victim of “false, malicious, and damaging information.”

Bea and Dominic first sparked dating speculations in 2019. After a period of being spotted together in similar locations, the GMA-7 star confirmed their romance in August 2021, saying it “just came out naturally.” They got engaged in July 2023.

Bea previously said that they were planning to tie the knot this year.
