Bea Alonzo shares what kept her going after canceled wedding, breakup with Dominic Roque
How did Bea Alonzo deal with her canceled wedding with Dominic Roque and their eventual breakup?
In a guesting on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on July 11, the actress said she was working on the crime mystery teleserye Widows' War when she and Roque called off their wedding. They confirmed the weeks-long rumors and the end of their relationship in February.
The "King of Talk" asked Bea how she went through such "wars" on the professional and personal side. "Pine-play ko lang 'yung music ni Taylor Swift, I Can Do It With A Broken Heart. Charot!" she said.
Bea noted that acting has always been her outlet when going through something, and Widows' War as a "creative war" helped her.
"It makes me not think about my problems," she said, adding that she isn't "escaping" them as "art imitates life for me."
Early into filming, however, Bea recalled doing a proposal scene. "Sabi ko, 'Talaga? Ngayon natin 'to gagawin?'"
Still, she noted that in a "war," sometimes people win and lose.
"But you always keep going, you never stop fighting," she said. "I guess that's the most important part is you never stop fighting.
At the moment, Bea said she's enjoying her life. "Na-realize ko, minsan marami tayong plano sa buhay natin. Pero God's plans are always better," she said.
According to Bea, their breakup made her stronger.
"Natutunan kong i-cancel talaga 'yung mga noise na hindi kailangan sa buhay ko," she said, "and just accept or embrace those opinions that add value to my life."
Bea and Dominic got engaged in July last year. In a joint Instagram post on Feb. 11, they announced that "after much thought, consideration, and care, we have mutually decided to amicably end our engagement."
They first sparked dating speculations in 2019. After a period of being spotted together in similar locations, the GMA-7 star confirmed their romance in August 2021, saying it “just came out naturally.”
Bea previously said that they were planning to tie the knot in 2024.
