Agencies of BTS' V and BLACKPINK's Jennie respond to dating rumors between the K-pop idols
The agencies of BTS' V and BLACKPINK's Jennie have responded to the dating rumors between the K-pop idols.
In a joint statement, HYBE and YG Entertainment simply told local media outlet Sports Seoul that it's "difficult to confirm [the dating rumors]."
This comes after Jennie and V were spotted holding hands in Paris this month, as seen in viral footage by French journalist Amar Taoualit, who said he saw them walking along the Seine.
According to ELLE, dating speculations between the two started in late 2021, when V followed Jennie on Instagram and unfollowed her shortly after. Korean entertainment site Allkpop reported that he seemingly talked about the “accidental follow” on WeVerse at the time, writing: “Is there a way to get rid of the ‘recommended’ friends list here on this Insta thing? It’s a scary app.”
The rumored couple in May 2022 was reportedly spotted on a date in Jeju Island. More snaps of the two in different locations circulated on social media between August and September of the same year, which further fueled romance rumors.
ELLE reported that their respective agencies did not deny the dating speculations. In May 2022, Jennie’s management YG Entertainment wrote in a statement that they had “nothing to say” about the matter. The agency later said it will take legal action against those who posted personal images and “malicious posts, or those which repeatedly upload unconfirmed claims” of Jennie without her consent.
The BLACKPINK member flew to France to promote her upcoming series The Idol, which tells the story of up-and-coming pop star Jocelyn (Lily Rose-Depp) who develops a complicated relationship with self-help guru and cult leader Tedros (The Weeknd) as they catapult her to stardom. It’s set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.
