Dominic Roque slams Cristy Fermin's claims, says he and Bea Alonzo never fought over prenup
Dominic Roque has broken his silence over controversial allegations made by showbiz columnist Cristy Fermin.
An official statement was issued by Fernandez & Singson Law offices on behalf of the actor, condemning Fermin's statements against him.
"We strongly condemn the malicious and defamatory public statements of Ms. Fermin. These defamatory statements were made by Ms. Fermin under the guise of entertainment news without any effort from her to confirm the same from Mr. Dominic Roque," it read.
In her vlog Showbiz Now Na, Fermin said that Roque's ex-fiancée Bea Alonzo's family was investigating the actor's finances as he lives in a high-end condominium. Later, she claimed that the condo was owned by a male politician, spurring speculation about the unnamed person's identity.
"These innuendoes alluded that Mr. Dominic Roque has a benefactor who is a politician and that this politician is the owner of the condominium unit where he currently resides. The messaging of the innuendos were clear and unambiguous," the statement said.
Some of the names that came up included Congressman Bong Suntay, the owner of Clean Fuel which Roque is a brand ambassador of, and Dapitan Mayor Bullet Jalosjos, who confirmed that he owned the condo. Roque slammed the speculations and apologized to the politicians dragged into the issue.
Jalosjos broke his silence on rumors of him being a "benefactor" of Roque, saying that they are just friends.
"Clarify ko lang, actually ‘yung condo totoong akin talaga ‘yon. Ginawa ko siyang airbnb. Syempre, as a friend, barkada, si Dom, asked me if I want to have it rented. Natawa na nga lang ako bakit tumalon ‘yung issue sa business na binahay na," the Dapitan Mayor said.
Suntay also dismissed the claims, stressing Roque’s status as a brand ambassador.
In a statement on Feb. 20, Cleanfuel said it “strongly condemns” the false accusations and misleading reports involving Roque.
“Being a company-owned entity, Cleanfuel does not provide nor extend franchise to anyone as claimed by some,” it said, noting how Roque has “worked and represented the brand professionally for the past six years.”
Roque also maintained that he and Alonzo "never fought or had a disagreement" over a pre-nuptial agreement.
“Reckless statements relating to the alleged disagreement over a pre-nuptial agreement between them are not only unverified but merely based on speculations intended to produce a negative image on the parties concerned,” the statement ended.
Boy Abunda announced earlier in February that Roque and Alonzo had broken up after public speculation about their split had spread online. The couple later confirmed the end of their relationship in a joint Instagram post.
