Kris Aquino diagnosed with erosive gastritis and gastric ulcer, no cancer detected
Kris Aquino gave the latest update on her health, stating that no cancer nor tumors have been detected, but that she has been diagnosed with erosive gastritis and gastric ulcer.
On March 10, Aquino was admitted for preliminary tests including PET/CT scan, upper endoscopy, and bone marrow aspiration for biopsy. Four days later, on March 14, the "Queen of all Media" has gone home and is awaiting bone marrow test results.
"I am so thankful our prayers are being heard... Dr. Francis gave me the HAPPY NEWS, walang tumors, NO CANCER DETECTED, " she stated in an Instagram video.
"I won't lie to you, there's this parang nabugbog ng bongga feeling in my lower spine BUT apart from my medical limitations, halos wala na kasi akong fat to 'CUSHION' my bones," Aquino said about the preliminary tests. She had gone through a dramatic weight loss, as seen in her photos, and said she now weigh 38.5 kilograms.
"I constantly remind myself to keep thanking God since my current pain is temporary. Malalagpasan rin kaya bawal umangal," she continued.
Erosive gastritis is an inflammation of the stomach characterized by lesions in the mucous lining causing ulcer-like symptoms. Its causes are suspected to be a result of over-indulgence of alcohol and persistent use of aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications like ibuprofen.
Meanwhile, gastric ulcers, also known as stomach ulcers, are sores that develop on the lining of the stomach due to stress and taking anti-inflammatory medicines.
In her Instagram post, Aquino also thanked her fans, family, and friends who have been checking in on her. She also gave a shout-out to Angel Locsin for looking after her and Josh.
Fellow celebrities wished Aquino a speedy recovery including Locsin, Neil Arce, Michael Leyva, Marian Rivera, Neri Miranda, Angeline Quinto, and the TV host's former assistant Darla.
Aquino revealed in 2018 that she was diagnosed with Chronic Spontaneous Urticaria, an autoimmune disease. She has since been getting treatment for her health condition.
