It's a big day for aspiring lawyers in the Philippines after nearly 4,000 of them passed the 2024 Bar exams, officially joining the legal profession.

Associate Justice Mario Lopez said a total of 3,962 test-takers emerged successful in the exams, with Kyle Christian Tutor of the University of the Philippines becoming the Bar topnotcher (85.7700%).

It's a proud moment for both the examinees who poured their blood and sweat in studying, as well as their families who supported them all the way. Some key personalities in Philippine politics expressed their joy at their achievement by congratulating them and sharing a few inspiring words that could help them in the future.

House Speaker Martin Romualdez recognized the "immense effort and sacrifice" that the candidates took to reach this milestone.

"Your hard work, dedication, and perseverance have paid off, and you now stand as members of one of the most honorable professions in our society," he said in a statement.

He encouraged them to "always keep the greater good in mind, use your skills to protect the rights of others, promote justice, and contribute to the progress of our nation."

"The law is a powerful tool to create meaningful change-let it guide you to serve with integrity and compassion. The country needs lawyers who are not only skilled but also principled and driven by a strong sense of duty to the people. Let your practice reflect the values that brought you here—hard work, fairness, and service to others," he added.

This was echoed by Sen. Win Gatchalian, who implored the new lawyers to apply what they've learned to help others get the justice they need.

"Congratulations sa ating mga bagong abogado! Gamitin ang inyong mga natutunan para makatulong sa ating mga kababayan na nangangailangan," he said.

Fellow senator Risa Hontiveros also said, "Mabuhay ang mga bagong abugado ng bayan! Nawa’y gamitin ninyo ang personal na panalong ito para ipanalo naman ang pinakanangangailangan!"

Former senator Kiko Pangilinan meanwhile urged them to "devote yourselves to fight for justice and respect for the rule of law."

"May you speak for those who are voiceless, empower those who are weak and fight mightily, relentlessly for justice for our people, especially the marginalized, who have long been denied it. Serve the people, serve the ends of justice and fairness," he stressed.

The new lawyers will have their oathtaking on Jan. 24, 2025.
