Heart Evangelista on renewing vows with Chiz Escudero: 'Now I do know what love should be'
Indeed, Feb. 14 is "Heart's Day" as Heart Evangelista and Chiz Escudero are set to renew their vows, nine years after their wedding.
During an event on Monday, where she was introduced as the new face of Ultherapy, Heart said that it would be an intimate gathering.
"It's a very very small gathering. But what makes it very special for me because I thought I knew what love was, but now I do know what love should be," she said.
"I feel like I'm getting married actually for the first time again. So I'm it's very, very special. Especially for a lot of untold stories."
When asked why she and Chiz are renewing their vows on their ninth anniversary, Heart admitted that they went through a lot as a couple last year, and so now is the right moment to do it.
"I never really denied, but you know, people go through stuff. And I never really spoke about it, but it was a major major one. So I feel like we're really, as a married couple, it's really meaningful for us to have this moment. And there are just so many other things happening and coming. So, this is the perfect time for us," Heart added.
The intimate celebration will be held on Balesin Island—where the couple got married in 2015—with only close friends and family on the guest list.
Chiz, on the other hand, announced their plan to renew their wedding vows in an interview with Karen Davila on Tuesday, Jan. 30, explaining that he has friends who did it in their fifth and seventh year.
"It really depends because if you are truly in love with each other, you can actually do it every year if you want," he said.
Likewise, Chiz implied that the affair is a way to celebrate all the good news they've received lately.
"Only because we have a lot of things to celebrate which I guess we would be able to say or announce in the next couple of months to our friends. It's not really something that the public needs to know, coming from us, but there's a lot to celebrate in life right now," he shared.
On her Instagram, Heart teased her followers that they are renewing their vows soon with a photo of herself holding a "couture" bouquet made by fashion designer Elie Saab.
"10 more days to go," she wrote in the caption, followed by the hashtags #ChizHeart and #Chapter2.
Speculations about a split swirled in 2022 after the actress dropped "Escudero" from her online profile, gaining further traction when she spoke openly about "personal challenges" and acquiring a residence in Paris in Paris.
Heart indirectly shut down the rumors in December 2022 by posting a photo of herself with the caption: "Walking around Paris before heading home for New Year. P.S. See you soon, @escuderochiz."
They both welcomed 2023 as a couple and have since been spotted together in several locations, including Fashion Week and the State of the Nation Address 2023.
