Everything you need to know about Starfox, Harry Styles' character in Marvel's 'Eternals'
In the mid-credits scene for Eternals, we were introduced to a new character who is likely to play a big role in the next Marvel Cinematic Universe movies to come: Starfox a.k.a Eros played by Grammy Award-winning singer Harry Styles.
Even though we only got a few minutes with the new character on screen, Starfox was hyped up in a big way. His teleporting pal Pip the Troll (Patton Oswalt) hailed him as the royal prince of Titan, brother of Thanos, the Knave of Hearts, defeater of Black Roger, and the great adventurer.
While avid comic readers might already know who the Mad Titan's brother is, he's a fresh face for movie fans. So who is Starfox/Eros and how is he connected to the Eternals and the rest of the MCU?
His origins
Starfox was born Eros to A'Lars and Sui-San on Titan along with his brother Thanos. They are of the Eternals race, but Thanos was born with a Deviant gene which caused him to have purple skin and a disfigured chin. But the two brothers' differences don't end there.
In the comics, Eros is portrayed as a carefree lover who lived the life of the party. But when Thanos became a threat to the universe, the young Eternal stepped up to save the day, joining the Avengers (where he adopted the nickname Starfox), the Guardians of the Galaxy, and the Dark Guardians to defeat the Mad Titan.
His powers
Just like any Eternal, Starfox is immortal and has superhuman strength, durability, speed, and accelerated healing.
Combat-wise, this hero can put up a fight: he can fly, create force fields, and harness gravitons.
What sets him apart from other members of his race is his unique power to control other people's emotions and stimulate pleasure centers in the brain, causing euphoria, arousal, pacification, and sedation. He's also quite the womanizer, and myths about Cupid in the Marvel universe are based on him.
His future in the MCU
Eternals ended on a cliffhanger, with big bad Arishem dragging Sersi (Chloe Zhao), Phastos (Brian Tyree Henry), and Kingo (Kumail Nanjiani) into space while other team members Thena (Angelina Jolie), Druig (Barry Keoghan), and Makkari (Lauren Ridloff) are off searching for other Eternals in the galaxy.
Harry Styles appears in the mid-credits scene letting Thena and the gang know that their friends are in big trouble, offering help to find and rescue them.
How does the Knave of Hearts fit in the MCU? Starfox could pop up in the upcoming She-Hulk series, given the character's relationship with heroine Jennifer Walters, as well as in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
In the comics, Adam Warlock, a character introduced in GotG Vol. 2, stole Pip the troll from Starfox, so we might see the two characters meet in the 2023 sequel.
